Language Arts - Music
Jason Finn
Jason Finn is a Language Arts teacher and basketball coach at Haverford Middle School in Havertown, PA. He is the author of The Gift of the Realm (ISBN:0741420546), and taught in Estonia on a U.S. Fulbright exchange in 2005-2006. At a snail’s pace, he is
working on his dissertation in educational leadership at Widener University. He loves teaching and spends the school year devising lesson plans where he can wear a wig. In the summer months, he writes, directs, and performs one-person shows about side dishes and
large knots. He lives in a sandbox with his lovely wife and beautiful son.
Tom Rudolph
Thomas Rudolph, Ed. D. is the Director of Music for Haverford School District, in Havertown, Pennsylvania and an adjunct Assistant Professor at The University of the Arts. He teaches technology courses at Berklee College of Music, Central Connecticut State University, and Villanova University. Tom is the president of TI:ME, the Technology Institute for Music Educators. His books include Sibelius: A Comprehensive Guide, Finale An Easy Guide to Music Notation, Recording in the Digital World, and Teaching Music With Technology. His articles have appeared in the Music Educators Journal, The Instrumentalist, Jazz Educator Journal, Downbeat
Magazine, and Music Education Technology Magazine.
Mathematics and Music
Katy O'Malley
Katy O’Malley lives in New Jersey and is currently in her fifth year as an eighth grade algebra teacher at Franklin Avenue Middle School. She earned her degree in the mathematical sciences and completed the education program at Muhlenberg College. She also recently completed her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the College of Saint Elizabeth.
James Frankel
James Frankel, Ed.D. is the instrumental and general music teacher at the Franklin Avenue Middle School in Franklin Lakes, NJ where has taught for the past 10 years. He is currently an Adjunct Faculty member at Teachers College Columbia University and Montclair State University. Dr. Frankel has published over 40 articles in various state, national and international journals
of music education. He is also the author of “Teaching Classroom Music in the Keyboard Lab”, published by SoundTree. Dr. Frankel runs a popular daily blog titled Music Technology in Education (http://jamesfrankel.musiced.net) and a podcasting site (http://fams.podomatic.com).
Science and Music
Valerie Ordway
A graduate from Hong Kong International School, Valerie Ordway received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Sociology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She holds professional teaching certificates in Middle School General Science, Social Studies, and Elementary Education grades 1-6. She is currently teaching grade 7 biology based science at Sharon Middle School in Sharon, Massachusetts but has also taught Earth Science at the 6th grade level. She is also on the coaching staff of the SMS track team and resides in the town of
Sharon where she and her family manage a horse farm.
Stefani Langol
Stefani Langol is a music educator, clinician, and author. She is currently assistant professor of music education at Berklee College of Music and also serves as the technology coordinator for the department. Stefani spent many years using technology in K–12 music classrooms and has trained hundreds of in-service music educators across the country on effective uses of music technology throughout the K–12 curriculum. Additionally, Stefani his an educational consultant and music technology applications specialist, and has worked for SoundTree/KorgUSA, Opcode, Cakewalk, Warner Brothers, Cablevision, and GIA Publishing. She serves on the Technology Institute for Music Educators (TI:ME) advisory board and was editor in chief of the TI:ME newsletter from 1997 to 2004.
