Popup Messages

Internet Authoring software has packaged behaviors to generate popup messages. The popup message that appeared when this page loaded uses the window.alert method. If you look at the code for this page you will see that the first popup appears when the body of the page loads (hence the onload attribute in the body tag).

It is also possible to have a popup menu appear when the visitor clicks an image or link as shown below.

You could use popup messages in the context of an instructional page to provide glossary definitions on demand. For example, Allegro, Andante, and Adagio are common tempo terms. They appear in bold here to indicate that they are glossary items. Click each term to view a brief definition.
