It is with sadness that we share the loss of our good friend and colleague, Dr. Charles Menoche. Charles was Professor of Music at Central Connecticut State University where he taught music composition and theory. He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Texas at Austin in 2002. His interest in music technology was integral to his composing and teaching. An active member of both TI:ME and ATMI (Association for Technology in Music Instruction), he regularly presented interesting sessions about composing and performing with music software and fascinating electronic devices/instruments. Former student and colleague Amy Burns adds: “He was a great and inspiring teacher and very supportive. He will be missed in the music tech world.”
Everyone recognized Charles from a distance with his beard and long, gray ponytail, and always donning a sport coat, but it was his smile and generally quiet demeanor accompanied by his passion for music technology and composition that defined our friend. He will be greatly missed; condolences to his wife, mother, and family.
