2. Individually purchased music (one per student)
3. One CD per student
4. Computer set-ups available for the students to use during non class time

1. To teach students how to use Band in a Box, enabling them to listen carefully to chords with a melody line
3. To burn a CD using Band in a Box
4. To reinforce the steps used for good vocal technique

1. In one 50 minute class period, the teacher will demonstrate the uses of Band in a Box, concentrating on the steps needed to create an accompaniment using chords and the various styles available. During the same class, the steps needed to burn a CD will be shown.
2. Each student, as part of their final grade, will be asked to come into the music lab on their own time and create an accompaniment for their specific song. The teacher will be available for questions that arise.
3. Each student will burn a CD with the accompaniment for their song. They will use this CD when performing their final.

Each student will be given a letter grade based on;
1. Their vocal technique
2. The success of their accompaniment with their melody
Each student will receive an evaluation listing all the aspects of good vocal technique and how they rated, written comments on their performance and an evaluation of their accompaniment. The sheet will also list their grade.

Follow Up:

1. Further study of the program Band in a Box
2. Transfer BIAB file to Finale (or any notation software) and notate the melody
