Materials:
Recorders, Teacher generated worksheet.
Objectives:
Students will complete a simple melody using notes BAG.
They will use basic notation of whole, half and quarter notes as well as quarter rests.
Students will complete the melody in Finale 2004, playback, and make adjustments as they see fit.
Assessment will be on an individual basis. It will include performance on playback and recorder.
Procedures:
Recorder skills through BAG will have already been achieved.
A template will be used which gives the first 2 measures of a 4 measure melody.
Students will play the example on Midi, and complete the remaining measures within the prescribed parameters of notation. Each subsequent example changes the parameters.
Students will play each melody through Finale, make adjustments as they wish. When complete, they will print each melody and play them on the recorder.
Evaluation:
Self evaluation will be an on-going process until individual satisfaction is achieved.
Computer play back as well as Recorder performance will serve as assessment.
Follow Up:
Follow-up could include exchange of melodies and performance between classmates.
Discussion of song endings, form and balance could ensue.
