Students will recognize the form AB, or variations of, when presented on a single staff, treble clef sheet of music.
Students will compose a measure, using the notes G,A,B (treble clef) and rhythm values of half notes, and eighth notes, in 4/4 time.

Procedures:

1. On their recorder music, students will be asked to circle the first 2 measures of the song.
2. The teacher will ask the students to circle any other two measures, which look exactly like them in the music.
3. Students will be told to label each pair of circled measures, A. Write the A over the first measure of each pair.
4. The teacher will ask how many measures are not circled. Students will be asked what letter could be used to label this one and why. Teacher will guide the discussion to the definition of the form of AB. Students will label the third measure as B.
5. On their computers, students will be asked to copy the first 4 measures of Hot Cross Buns onto a staff, using PrintMusic.
6. Students will then be asked to create a measure, using the notes G, A,B, 1 half note, and 4 eighth notes. They will label this section as C.
7. Students will then be asked to follow section C on their piece of music by writing in the notes for section A.
8. By using copy and paste, the students will be asked to create another song from their version of Hot Cross Buns, including section C, but changing around the order of the sections.
