Materials:
Audio recordings featuring solo flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, tenor saxophone Sounds produced on keyboard
Objectives:
Ability to accurately distinguish between the sounds of the flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon and tenor saxophone. An understanding of the difference between the above mentioned instruments and what they look like, how the sounds are acoustically produced, and what the electronic instrument’s version of the actual instruments sound like.
Procedures:
Investigate each of the five mentioned woodwind instruments by examining the following websites – projected on screen. Discuss and listen to mp3 audio samples – then listen to synthesized keyboard sounds for each instrument and discuss the similarities and differences.

Evaluation:
Listening test: Play 10 melodic examples of the five mentioned instrument sounds on the keyboard in random order. On their sheet, students should circle the appropriate answer to each example. Flute Oboe Clarinet Bassoon Tenor Saxophone Visual test: When unidentified images of said instruments are projected individually on the screen, students should be able to identify the instrument at sight.
