TI:ME Announces Updates to Its Lesson Plans
One of TI:ME’s most useful member benefits has been a database of over 400 music technology lesson plans which are available to search in the members-only section of the website.  In those lesson plans, TI:ME addresses specific professional standards including the 1994 NAfME/MENC standards.  Those nine standards served the profession well and focused on the many categories of teaching music practiced in well-balanced classrooms (see below).  In 2014, NAfME released new standards with broader categories focused on the core skills of performing, creating, responding, and connecting.  TI:ME is pleased to announce that it has updated it’s database so that each lesson lists both the 1994 and the 2014 standards.
    (a) NAfME 1994 Standard #1 - Singing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music. (NAfME 2014:  Performing)
    (b) NAfME 1994 Standard #2 - Performing on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music. (NAfME 2014:  Performing)
    (c) NAfME 1994 Standard #3 - Improvising melodies, variations, and accompaniments. (NAfME 2014:  Creating)
    (d) NAfME 1994 Standard #4 - Composing and arranging music within specified guidelines.  (NAfME 2014:  Creating)
    (e) NAfME 1994 Standard #5 - Reading and notating music.  (NAfME 2014:  Creating)
    (f) NAfME 1994 Standard #6, - Listening to, analyzing, and describing music.  (NAfME 2014:  Responding)
    (g) NAfME 1994 Standard #7 - Evaluating music and music performances. (NAfME 2014:  Responding)
    (h) NAfME 1994 Standard #8 - Understanding relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts.  (NAfME 2014:  Connections)

"My membership in TI:ME has changed my life. I was originally trying to integrate technology in my music classroom with little knowledge other than information that I had researched. When I discovered TI:ME, I FINALLY had access to resources that I could immediately use. I was able to network with other professionals and get advice. My TI:ME membership has enabled me to learn more - and teach my students using music technology. If you haven't signed up for TI:ME - it's about time!."
