Materials:

Scavenger Hunt Worksheet with Biographical Focus Questions

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this lesson: Students will be able to articulate a general understanding of the lives and works of Stravinsky, Picasso, and Einstein.

Procedures:

Hand out Scavenger Hunt Worksheet and tell students to use the internet to complete it by the end of the period. Students will search the Web for biographical information on Stravinsky, Picasso and Einstein and compare and contrast their lives. Students will print out Picasso’s famous drawing of Stravinsky, and listen to excerpts of the Firebird Suite. Students should complete the entire worksheet in under an hour and then participate in a classroom discussion.

Evaluation:

Completed worksheets will be evaluated on the accuracy and relevance of the information. Participation in the classroom discussion will be noted.

Follow Up:

Do a more in-depth Scavenger Hunt of Stravinsky, Picasso and Einstein and then construct a time line for the bulletin board that outlines their individual accomplishments.
