The students will play through the “Cut-Time” worksheet as a group. The students will count in Cut-time. Assessment will be by listening to student performance.

Introduce the “Cut-Time” worksheet. Explain the note values in cut-time. Explain the counting. Have students count aloud with the examples. Have students play the examples on their instruments. This activity is intended to be part of your warm-up portion of your rehearsal. (It would be great if you were about to introduce a band piece in cut-time during the rehearsal.)

Evaluation will be by listening to the students performance.
Reteach and redo as necessarry.

Follow Up:

Play repetoire in cut-time meter in subsequent rehearsals.
