Prior Knowledge and Skills:

Students will have had an introduction to the musical alphabet and the treble clef’s lines and space pitch designations. They will also have practiced the drawing of the treble clef onto the music staff.

MENC Standards Addressed:

MENC 5: Reading and notating music.
MENC 7: Evaluating music and music performances.


Pitch recogition worksheet. Finale or Finale notepad.

Children will be able to recognize pitch on the treble clef by writing down the musical pitch below each note on the Music Pitch Worksheet.


The teacher will review the musical alphabet and the pitch designations for the treble clef’s lines and spaces on the classroom’s music blackboard. The children will
draw the treble clef and each pitch introduced onto a piece of music manuscript paper provided by the teacher.


Based on the students grades on the worksheet.

Follow Up:

The teacher and class will play the music word spelling game using simple musical words, ( Egg,Cab,Ace) and the treble.
Students will draw a quarter note for each letter/pitch designated in each word.
