Student copies of the song, Hot Cross Buns.
Students will learn to play the song Hot Cross Buns on the recorder. They will learn to play the song with different accompaniment backgrounds.
Students will review the notes B A G. 5 Minutes
The teacher will teach the song Hot Cross Buns, measure by measure, using echo technique.
Students will then practice the song several times unaccompanied. 10 Minutes
The teacher will have prepared several different accompaniments for the song using Band In A Box.
Students will play the song with several different accompaniment styles, with the melody and melodic rhythm remaining constant. 10-15 minutes.
After several playings, the teacher will have a student start the song accompaniment on the computer while circulating to listen to individual players, checking fingerings, etc.
The same process could be used for further G A B songs such as Merrily We Roll Along and Lucy and Linus (from the Charlie Brown Christmas Special)
As a final assessment, individual students could record themselves playing the songs with accompaniment.
