LCD Projector (computer projector) – ideally this lesson is done as a group.
Attached Finale File, “Recorder Worksheet.mus” (Use only page 2 of this document.)
Objectives:
Using Finale Notepad, students will create an eight measure composition using eighth notes, quarter notes, half notes, whole notes, quarter rests, half rests, and whole rests using pitches B, A and G on the treble clef staff.
Assignment will be collected and assessed by teacher.
Procedures:
1. Students open Finale Notepad – 2 minutes
2. Students pen Recorder Composition Template – 3 minutes
3. Teacher and students read lesson instructions on template for required elements – 5 minutes
4. Teacher and students review simple entry of all notes included in lesson objectives. – 10 minutes
5. Students enter notes for composition – 15 minutes
6. Students print copies of their composition – 5 minutes
7. Teacher collect compositions
Evaluation:
Teacher will evaluate each composition for required elements before next students’ next music class.
Follow Up:
Teacher selected compositions will be copied to overhead transparency and performed by students in next music class.
