Projection Device
Tongue Twister Solfeggio Sibelius Software Cards
Barred Instruments like melody bells, xylophones, metallophones and glockenspiels
Objectives:
The Student will be able to improve their singing diction by singing Tongue Twister Warm-Ups that are presented via a projection device, prepared slides using Sibelius Software and a computer set-up.
The Student will be able to improve their do-mi-sol solfeggio reading skills by signing/singing each Tongue Twister Exercise in solfege.
Procedures:
1. Echo sing/sign solfege notes and have the students echo sing/sign them back to the teacher. Echo sing student’s names in solfeggio patterns and have the class echo sign/sing each name.
2. Using the projection device that is connected to a computer, show the Tongue Twister Vocal Exercise on a screen for the students to view.
3. Demonstrate the Tongue Twister Exercise by singing it for the students. Have the students sing the Tongue Twister Exercise and practice it many times. Have them sing the exercise in different tempi and dynamics.
4. Review solfeggio signs and syllables by echo signing/singing them with the class.
5. Have students identify do-mi-sol notes in the Tongue Twister Warm-Up.
6. Have students practice reading the warm-up using do-mi-sol syllables and hand signs.
7. Select students to play do-mi-sol patterns on available barred instruments like melody bells, xylophones, metallophones and glockenspiels.
8. If time allows, switch student players.
Evaluation:
By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to identify do-mi-sol signs/notes by doing singing, moving and playing instrument activities. The students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of do-mi-sol via their class performance.
This evaluation may be assessed by the teacher via the performance output of the class.
Follow Up:
Students can practice signing/singing and playing instruments using new sets of Tongue Twisters Exercises that encompass a new set of solfeggio notes.
