Materials:

-Musica, die ganz lieblich Kunst by Johann Jeep, edited by John Leavitt
-Musica Sibelius worksheet.
-Blank manuscript worksheet

Objectives:

-Students will demonstrate understanding of solfege through singing and aural recognition.
-Students will sing using solfege syllables.

Procedures:

-Create excerpt from Musica with Sibelius and blank manuscript.
-Students will echo sing solfege patterns using hand signals.
-Students will take dication of solfege patterns using notation.
-Students will sing Musica Sibelius exerpt using solfege.
-Students will sing Musica from original score.

Evaluation:

-Student participation.
-Student dictation worksheet.

Follow Up:

-Create Scorch file of worksheet for posting to school web site for homework use.
-Record student quartets for assessment of solfege understanding.
