Materials:
Laptop Cart, Garage Band Software, CD’s or I-pods containing music for soundtracks.
Objectives:
Students will understand how movie/cartoon soundtracks are created Students will create a brief soundtrack to a cartoon clip integrating both music and sound effects.
Procedures:
This project should follow the lesson on Movie/Film production.
Review basic principles of production.
Show movie clip in Garage Band to entire class.
Ask for ideas of what sounds are needed within a five second time frame
Have volunteers input the sounds while reviewing the basics of Garage Band.
Explain assignment: Add sound effects and music that enhances the movie/cartoon.
Distribute laptops and have students open the file and get started.
Evaluation:
Play each group’s project for the class at the end or during the next session.
Students will be graded using a rubric.
Follow Up:
Record a longer segment Add sound and music to your own video.
Items to Purchase:
Acid for a laptop cart.
