Objectives:

As a result of this lesson the students will be able to take a given instrument key and transpose its part into concert key. They will also be able to take a given concert pitch and transpose it into the key of the instrument.

Procedures:

A discussion of differently keyed instruments will occur between the class and the teacher. This will include reasons for the differently pitched instruments etc. With the classes previous knowledge of intervals and key signatures the class will practice several examples transposing keys and notes.
Using the worksheet provided the class will pracrice independently various examples of transposition.

Evaluation:

Worksheets will be evaluated by the pair share method where classmates will check work and techniques with each other as well as full class sharing.

Follow Up:

Transposing of Hymns into quartets of various instruments.
