Objectives:
1.) Students will be able to aurally and visually analyze the key and basic harmonic triads of a given melody.
2.) Students will be able to define the terms phrase, antecedent phrase, consequent phrase, and period.
3.) Students will be able to diagram the melodic and harmonic reasons for analyzing a melody.
4.) Students will be able to analyze a piece of music for its melodic and formal structure.
Procedures:
1.) Introduce basics of Chapter #7 such as the terms melody and form. (5 minutes)
2.) Use Phrase, Period, and Phrase Group worksheet (separate Finale file) for class lecture and discussion. Follow through the instructions on the sheet. (15 minutes)
3.) Begin first phrase of Homework sheet (see materials section above) with students. (5 minutes)

Follow Up:
Completion of Chapter 7 of Elementary Harmony most notably use Assignments 7.1 and 7.2 for immediate follow-up exercises.
