Prior Knowledge and Skills:
Sixth grade band students have some prior knowledge of reading music notation. Students perform MBDA grade music 1-1 1/2.

Objectives:
1. Students will be able to perform various rhythms of whole note, half note, quarter note, and eighth notes with instruments. 2. Students will be able to identify and clap/count basic rhythm patterns.
Procedures:
1. Students will be able to identify symbols of whole, half, quarter, eighth note values from flash cards. 2. Students will be able to clap/count flash card rhythms. 3. Students will be able to perform with instruments flash card rhythms. 4. Several students will be able to perform flash card rhythms. 5. Students will be to perform musical selection using rhythms.
Evaluation:
6. Complete Rhythm worksheet created in notation software.
Follow Up:
Create a four-eight measure rhythm composition using whole, half, quarter, eighth notes and rests.
