Prior experience with Finale Performance Assessment. Rehearsal of the required repetoire.

Finale Performance Assessment Files prepared with your choral parts used for rehersal/evaluation.


Students will rehearse their vocal parts of the required repertiore. Students will assess the accuracy of pitch and rhythm during their rehearsal/performance.


Select and create vocal parts from your choir repertiore. Have students display these parts appropriate to their voice classification. Using Finale Performance Assessment, have the students rehearse with the vocal segments by first listening and then singing with the part as it plays. Students can then check the accuracy of their performance by singing the part into the microphone. The program then can evaluate their performance by displaying red notes (inaccurate pitch/rhythm) by the correct notes in the score. The student can check the percentage and numbers of correct notes (a test grade). This step can be repeated until the singer is proficient in the pitch and rhythm of the performance.


The final results of the student’s performance can be saved for observation and instruction.

Follow Up:

This lesson can expand into vocal tests given every few weeks, end of grading period, etc.
